It’s the start of a new year, and we’ve got a few things to share with you, if you haven’t already caught them on our Facebook page.

  • We’ve got a new sponsor and musical partner in Babeville, the beautiful music venue and home of The Last Waltz at 341 Delaware Ave in downtown Buffalo. Asbury Hall and the 9th Ward are two of Buffalo’s greatest locations for live music!

  • The Buffalo Music Coalition, a group led by SAM Foundation board member Bob McLennan, will be presenting “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” on Feb. 5 at 8 p.m. at the Sportsmen’s Tavern. It will feature an all-star lineup of some of Buffalo’s greatest women musicians(including Grace Lougen, Dara Gallagher, Alex McArthur, Danusia Beatz, Amanda Markovich, Blaise Mercedes, Donna Delano-Kerr, Joelle Labert, Kate Starr. They’ll be performing a tribute to women songwriters and singers, with nearly 30 songs from different artists. A portion of the proceeds to benefit the Breast Cancer Network of WNY. Cool poster by Jerry Hall, who will also be appearing in the show. Get your tickets now!
  • Keep an eye out for a new podcast from board member Greg Hennessey.  It will be called  “In the Flamingo Lounge with Rockabilly Greg,” and the goal — in Greg’s words — is to highlight, in the spirit of Paul Harvey’s “The Rest of the Story,” the musical stories and history of musicians who have a Buffalo connection or live and play in our community. The podcast will focus on Buffalo/Western New York musicians of all ages and genres. We’ll let you know here when it goes live.
