As you may have noticed in the Free Tickets story, there is a big show to support veterans coming up at the Sportsmen’s Park/Sportsmen’s Tavern/Cave complex on Sunday, Sept. 10 (yes, that’s just five days away!).
It’s called Red, White, Rock ‘n Blues, and it’s the seventh edition of the show. You can’t go wrong with these performers, and it’s for a good cause: raising money for the Veterans One-Stop Center. The Buffalo-based group supports veterans across Western New York.

The Ladies First Jazz Trio
Coming up next in the SAM Foundation’s Music @ the Library series is the Ladies First Jazz Trio on Saturday, Sept. 30, at the downtown Central Library.
The show will feature Jennie Jones on alto, tenor and soprano saxophones, flute, clarinet and vocals with some great scat chops; pianist Claudia Andres; and bassist Jennifer May. They’ll be performing “dynamic jazz standards.”
By the way, you may already know the ladies from the Ladies First Jazz Big Band, one of the great local big bands. Here’s a bit of what the full group sounded like a few years back in a show at Kleinhan’s with the Buffalo Dolls (and yes, the JAM editor had a great time shooting and editing it!).
The show is free and open to the public in the main floor Ring of Knowledge. This concert is an extra added attraction to the Library’s participation in Explore Buffalo’s Doors Open 2023. Free 30-minute building tours will offered on the hour on September 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
