The first Tuesday of every month is Foundation Night at the Sportsmen’s Tavern, when SAM Foundation members receive free admission to hear the Twang Gang.

But when the first Tuesday falls on July 4, it’s a special occasion and so is the event: The Twang Gang & Friends Independence Day in the Park.

The Fourth of July show will feature not only the Twang Gang, but also McCarthyizm and the Leroy Townes Band.

The show is at Sportsmen’s Park, with gates opening at 2. Bring a chair; the show will go on, rain or shine.

One thing is the same as always though: SAM Foundation members get in free. If you’re not a member, don’t worry. The admission is just $10, or you can always just become a member!

Chuckie Campbell will highlight the next Music @ the Library show will be Saturday, July 22,  at 2 p.m. at the Reading Park Ramp of the Central  Library by Lafayette Square.

It’s a bit of a departure for the series, venturing into some different forms of Americana. Campbell is a recording artist, poet, fiction writer and educator. He performs with a live band, for a five-piece live approach to hip-hop that reaches back to hip-hops musical roots.  Appearing with him at the Library will be Deshawn Jackson (drums), CJ Smith (keys), Sally Schaefer (violin) and Emilio Virella (trumpet).

The show is free and open to the public. The rain location is inside the Library.

Here’s a link to a Facebook video of a recent show from Campbell and his current crew: https://fb.watch/lqQxJPNnPK/

Meanwhile, here’s a  more polished video from a couple of years back:
