Dear Active and Inactive Members of the Sportsmen’s Americana Music Foundation,

Thank you for your support over the years.  To be able to continue our mission, we need our inactive members to consider renewing their membership.  Our reserves have been hard at work as you can see below, but we need to replenish so that we may continue with our outstanding programing.

Please visit our Foundation store on Tuesday evenings which is open from 6:00 – 8:30 during the Twang Gang show.  We have lots of cool Americana Music Foundation Merch.   All proceeds go to the Foundation except for our local musicians’ CD’s which goes directly to them.  And there are a few band t-shirts.

If you missed the article in last month’s JAM about our ongoing programs, scholarships, collaborations as summarized by our Executive Director, Jeff Meiers, please read below:

Ongoing programs and 2023 accomplishments:  Our continuing education series led us to 6 different music education programs at 3 different sites, including ongoing programs with the Valley Community Center and the Old First Ward Community Center. 108 school aged youth received music instruction on both ukulele and acoustic guitar.

The Foundation coordinated their first instrument petting zoo as part of the OFW Arts & Heritage Festival where music learners of all ages had an opportunity to learn and explore new instruments from the violin to dobro.

The Foundation sponsored a concert for The Buffalo Girl Choir in the Buffalo Science Museum Auditorium, along with sponsoring our annual Folkfaces Festival in Darian, New York.

We’ve matched funds for a Fundraiser for Matt’s Music to send a group of young vocal students to Nashville for a series of workshops and tours.  We are continuing our partnership with a mentor program at the Wellsville Center for The Arts, with a recital on a Pre-Twang Gang Foundation Night at Sportsmen’s, along with an annual scholarship given to an outstanding student via the Buffalo Jazz Collective.

In late December, SAMF awarded a $15,000 grant to the Pappy Martin Legacy Jazz Collective to support the organization’s general operating costs, including those associated with maintaining and running the Love Supreme School of Music.
