Well, August is here … and it’s definitely the busiest time for bluegrass around the area.

Bluegrass camps are running. Bluegrass festivals, outdoor parties and summer nights of bluegrass are happening at gazebos throughout western New York.
Here are a few things happening around Buffalo that you don’t want to miss:
On Aug. 5, Mari Black is doing a workshop for bluegrass/Irish fiddlers at the Buffalo Niagara heritage Village (formerly the Amherst museum). Mark Panfil and Doug Youmans are doing a workshop for backing up the fiddlers taking the class. It’s a great family opportunity for young fiddlers and those who want to play along with them on guitar, piano or banjo.

Black will be performing at the Sportsmen’s on Wednesday, Aug. 7.
On Aug 16, the Junior Sisk Band from Virginia will be at the Akron Clarence Mennonite Church, starting at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, Aug. 17, the Mayville Bluegrass Festival starts up again after a few years of a break.
